Dr. José R. Mellado
Dr. Mellado received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his periodontology certification at Temple University, where he also received a Master’s degree in Oral Biology.

Dr. Mellado is a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, as well as a Diplomate of American Board of Periodontology.
A former teacher, Dr. Mellado taught dental implants and periodontology to undergraduate and graduate students at the Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Aside from teaching, he has also presented numerous lectures. His articles on periodontal care have been featured in a variety of journals and professional settings.
He has earned several prestigious awards, such as International College of Dentistry Award in 1990, Pierre Fauchard Academy Award in 1990, Best Dentist in America Award in 2004, and the Who is Who Professional of the Year in 2007.
He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Northeastern Society of Periodontists, the Academy of Osseronitergration and the Florida Dental Association. He is also the former president of the South Florida District Association.
